Game Concept Note — Certification-Gated Digital Twin Access
Core loop
Players progress through a series of certifications/gates. Each certification:
- Teaches a concept from your community/educational content
- Unlocks deeper access to digital-twin features inside the game (not the production systems — a game-facing representation of them)
- Comes with responsibility: unlocking more access = taking on more collective responsibility within the game's community/social layer
Certification mechanics
- In-game credential — a badge/certificate tied to the player's account, earned by completing a module + passing a check (quiz, task, or demonstrated behavior in-game)
- Cross-certification (optional, external) — if an outside body ever wants to recognize the credential, that's a bonus, not a requirement. Default assumption: the credential's value is internal — a signal within the open-source/player community that someone has engaged with the material and shown the ethics/behavior the certification is meant to indicate
- Gating — each tier of digital-twin access requires the prior tier's certification; no shortcuts
What "digital twin access" means inside the game
This should stay a game-native representation — a sandboxed, playable version of the concepts — rather than a literal doorway into your production repos or client systems. Keeps the game world self-contained and keeps the "no American-psychology entanglement" boundary clean, since nothing in the game world touches the outside systems directly.
Open items for next pass
- What are the actual certification tiers (names + what each one teaches)?
- What's the game engine/platform (this affects how gating and credential storage work)?
- Does a completed certification produce anything portable (PDF certificate, on-chain badge, shareable link) or stay purely in-game?
Send me the tiers and platform whenever you're ready and I'll turn this into a fuller design doc or a build plan.
