Onboarding — New Operator Flow

What this is

The flow that takes a new operator from first exposure to the methodology through to first verified footprint emission. Currently scaffolded; implementation is downstream.

Phases

Phase 0 — Exposure

The new operator encounters the methodology through public surface (eve-hyperloop) or through direct introduction. They read the lattice's axioms and the cognitive-fitness-gate overview. They are not asked to do anything yet.

Phase 1 — Lexicon familiarization

The operator is introduced to the public lexicon (lexicon-public/). They learn the seed footprints — 🍀 resolution, 🔺 wobble, ⚖️ balance, 🪞 mirror, 🛑 pacification, 🧭 re-orientation — by reading examples from real captures, not by being lectured. Recognition is the only test at this phase.

Phase 1.5 — Personal icon assignment

The candidate is assigned a personal icon. The assigned icon is the candidate's semantic-layer footprint — a persistent identifier the AI substrate uses to interpret every subsequent footprint that candidate emits. The icon is unique, persistent across loss-condition restarts, and authored by the game (not chosen by the candidate). One reassignment request is allowed during the assignment window; after the window closes, the icon is committed.

This phase is what converts the candidate from a reader of the lexicon into a position in the lexicon. From this phase forward, every footprint the candidate emits is tagged with their personal icon, and the candidate's start position declarations include the icon as the first element.

Phase 2 — Cold-read training

The operator practices Test B (read cold). They are shown other operators' footprints and asked to reconstruct what the operator was responding to. The reconstruction does not have to be correct; what matters is whether the operator can produce a coherent reconstruction at all. Coherence is the leading signal.

Phase 3 — Live classification at low speed

The operator begins emitting footprints against their own life. Speed band is locked at the lowest setting. The wobble-tolerance threshold is generous. The operator practices Test A (mark live) on their own experience without pressure.

Phase 4 — Marketplace exposure

The operator's footprints begin flowing to the marketplace for calibration. The operator learns what survives calibration and what does not. The operator begins to feel the difference between footprints that hold and footprints that wobble.

Phase 5 — Speed band climb

The candidate begins the speed-discipline practice documented in /game/design/speed-discipline.md. They are no longer a new player. They are a senior candidate.

Phase 6 — Graduation arc

When the candidate's fitness profile crosses graduation thresholds across all seven of Tests A–G, the terminal phase opens. Specified in /game/design/intake-and-graduation.md:

  1. Simulated WhatsApp account creation and intake message practice.
  2. Simulated lock-in disclosure across the five Methodology 14 categories.
  3. Test H (Lock-In Audit) — read by the lead operator, not scored automatically.
  4. Real-world intake — candidate creates a real WhatsApp account, requests intake from the lead operator, sends their first real intake message into the channel the operator opens for them. Admission to specific groups is the operator's decision.
  5. Callsign glyph creation — once admitted, the candidate composes their own custom callsign glyph in the game's creation surface. The callsign goes through marketplace calibration and commits. Specified in /game/design/callsign-glyph.md.

By the end of the graduation arc, every operator carries two identity layers: an assigned personal icon (AI-readable, authored by the game at Phase 1.5) and an authored callsign glyph (human-readable, authored by the candidate at graduation), plus a real WhatsApp account under a stable handle. The two-layer identity is the operational baseline from graduation forward.

From the moment the operator admits the candidate, they are an operator with the scope the operator granted, and the game's role transitions to ongoing practice and skill maintenance rather than gating.
