Apple Human Interface Guidelines — Reference Library
Why This Is Here
This directory exists as a usability benchmark reference for the EVE Glyph Design education program. Apple Inc. has spent more than four decades refining its Human Interface Guidelines — a publicly available body of design principles covering clarity, visual hierarchy, motion, accessibility, and interaction feedback. Those principles represent one of the most rigorously tested and widely scrutinized bodies of practical UX knowledge in the industry.
The EVE Glyph Design team (Dany Theriault and Laxman) intakes these principles so that education materials designed for children can be evaluated against a known, high-quality benchmark. The specific design topics of interest are:
- Clarity — legible presentation at every scale
- Hierarchy — content leads, chrome defers
- Depth and motion — layered understanding, not decoration
- Feedback — every correct action acknowledged, every error corrected gently
- Accessibility — widest possible audience, from the start
- Onboarding — teach by doing, not by telling
- Iconography — simple shapes, disciplined metaphors
- Callouts and leader lines — directing attention without visual noise
